Going too far with the smoking issue in Ohio

In new people, news, politics, writing on June 29, 2007 at 1:14 am

smokingToday on the local news in Ohio . A hospital announced it would no longer be considering smokers for employment. This is discrimination . It’s not good enough that people aren’t allowed to smoke anywhere in public including a bar or  work. But this is going to far.  Which leads me to the question ; If a person starts smoking after they are hired are they then fired?

I don’t condone smoking but the fact is how many people go to work on some kind of anti-depressant med from their “doctors” AKA :  Drug .Pusher. Having a little Prozac with your morning coffee has become perfectly acceptable.

Valium for breakfast? I’d rather not have this guy following me to work. This feels a lot like the seat belt laws in Ohio.

Where is all of  this coming from you ask ? One place,  the insurance companies who are tired of paying out claims. But why stop there why not outlaw drinking again? Let’s see do  I smoke four cigarettes and drive home. Or have four high balls and drive home?

Both parties of Ohio are more than happy to let the smokers pay for what ever it is they want; Tax here a tax there, it’s all good right?

Smokers pay for  a new stadium and they can’t smoke in it.  Like I said I don’t own stock in a tobacco company, It’s more the principle of it. We have no choice in   anything. Over the last year one counties in Ohio voted down a tax increase , the tax was added anyway. Think your voice counts ? Think anyone listing? The question is what can we expect next.
